My Favorite Skirt Revealed (And Why I Love It)

Everyone has a favorite piece of clothing. Sometimes it's a dress. Other times, it's a favorite pair of jeans that fit them like a glove.

For me, it's a floral print skirt from Old Navy. It's swishy and feminine and every time I wear it, good things happen.

Are you ready to see it? Scroll down.....

Just kidding. Here's a weird pic of me. You're welcome. Okay keep scrolling....

This is my favorite skirt in the whole world. I LOVE wearing it.

I love it because it's super comfortable. Like I get to wear a silky blanket all day when I wear this skirt. It's also really versatile - most colors go with it. Although, usually I wear a black or white top because that's easy and I'm boring. Having this blog has really pushed me to try new things which is great!

Okay, so I want to hear about your favorite piece of clothing - I know you have one! post signature

5 Eshakti Dresses I'm Currently In Love With

I always say that if I become a millionaire, I am going to buy every dress Eshakti has for sale. I seriously love the way you can customize the sleeves, length and neckline for modesty's sake. Also, they're just so dang stinkin' cute. Seriously, people. Like where else can you get an vintage elephant print dress??

Also, the buttons and collar...to.die.for.
When I originally saw this dress on the website (which I check on an almost daily basis for two reasons- 1. I am addicted to window shopping there. 2. They have new dresses almost everyday), I didn't like it until I zoomed in. Sweet mother of adorableness - those daisies and buttercups.

Totally get that this may not be your style at all...its's cool, more for me!

This one is so simple and clean-feeling...with pops of red color. Love it. I feel like this would be way more versatile than it looks. Plus, it has a full skirt...can I get an amen?!

What shoes would look good with this? Seriously can't think...my purple flats?

Aaaaand there's this one. Part of me thinks this is overkill and another part of me is like, "Go for it...." If I did end up buying this, I would keep everything else as unobtrusive as possible. Like nude shoes and quiet makeup and hair. Otherwise, it would definitely be too much.

A third part of me worries that this is the girl version of the ugly Hawaiian shirt...yeaaahhhh....

I saved my favorite for last. IT'S A BLUE AND WHITE PRINT DRESS!! So much love going on here, ladies. And it has little Venetian boats and buildings. This is perfect. And it's another one of those versatile dresses, believe it or not. Jean jacket, gray cardigan, boots, flats - it would be amazing all year round.

Be still, my beating heart.

So those are the five dresses I'm currently loving - what about you? Take a look at all the dresses on Eshakti, I promise you'll be there for hours and probably spend three hundred dollars because you can't help it...not speaking from personal experience*.

*just kidding, I am. I had a job in high school.

"But Other Fashion Bloggers Are So Much Cooler Than Me..."

It's hard not to get envious of other fashion bloggers. Cooler clothes, more style, better camera, nicer jewelry, more expensive homes; the list could go on and on. It can be an overwhelming and discouraging mental burden to carry.

My belief is that you control and override your thought pattern. It's as simple as correcting yourself when thinking. So, for example, if I think, "Why can't I have as many preppy clothes as Classy Girls Wear Pearls bloggers have??", I would immediately tell myself, "You're a student in college and you have LOTS of pretty clothes as it is. Many girls would LOVE your closet." And then I move on. It's basic thought rewriting and re-enforcing.

Another thing I tell myself is that even the top dogs are probably comparing themselves to other fashion bloggers too. It's a vicious cycle that continues all the way to the top.

The key is to quickly move on and turn that negative discontent into something postive. Use that envy to push yourself to a new goal - for example, putting more effort into how you look when just at home. Or wearing more accessories on a daily basis. Use that discontent to fuel yourself to make your blog better - look at what they're doing and see how you can imitate it.

I'm curious to know if other fashion bloggers sometimes feel envious? If you do, do you have any tips on how to combat those feelings of discontent and envy?

How to Tuck Your Shirt Into Your Skirt the Right Way

We got a whole bunch of new skirts from ThredUp (see Rose's ThredUp review here). I love wearing skirts; so classy and lady-like.

This is my "model" face...haha, yeah, right....

The secret to tucking a shirt into a skirt is to wear the skirt at the waist (with a few exceptions depending on the skirt) and to use a wide belt. It's pretty simple but those two key factors are essential.

Somehow the summer is almost over and I am not tan at all...#webdesignerprobs

I've been super busy lately but it's been good to have this blog to push me to dress up and put make-up on.

This belt can basically be paired with anything.

My boyfriend is in town for the next two weeks (!) so I've been super happy about that...

Does my ear look unusually pink to you? Or is it just me? Just me...okay...

Lucky

"Lucky I'm in love with my best friend..."

I am lucky. Lucky to have a family that loves me. Lucky to date my best friend who loves me with his whole heart. Lucky to have friends that care about me deeply. Lucky to believe in a God that is unbelievably forgiving and merciful. SO merciful!!

I have just been reflecting lately on the many blessings in my life. God has truly blessed me this past year. I really don't deserve it at all. But, then again, who does? I didn't really have a relationship with God until this year and even now I'm nowhere as close to Him as I want to be.

There have been hard times and I've been in dark places this year. Some of the worst things that have ever happened to me happened during this year. But, hey, you get through them with your chin up and a good attitude.

I am lucky and blessed. And so are you. Count your luckiness. Count your blessings!

(P.S. Just realized that that sign has Christ Healing Ministries or something on it. Coincidence, haha...)

In My Heart, I Knew It Was Over

I said goodbye to a close friend of mine the other day. I didn't want to at all but, in my heart, I knew our friendship was over and it was time to move on. People change and you change and the best thing is do remember the happy memories you had together.

I think an important part of "friend breakup" is not dwelling on the past. I could focus on how I feel hurt by all this or I can choose to spend my time and energy making new friends. I am a huge believer in the power of positive thinking.

While going through this breakup, I was able to draw closer to a very, very old friend of mine and just getting to talk to each other and mutually share our struggles was SO beautiful. We've been friends for twenty years (yeah, our whole life!) - such an amazing blessing!

In the end, these things are never fun. They hurt and it's hard to get over them. But the strength to move past these things is inside of us.

Rainstorms

Shirt: TJMaxx
Skirt: Downeast Basics
Shoes: Sam and Libby
Jewelry: Claires and Etsy

Hi there! ♥

This is just a very easy, casual outfit, something I wear to an outdoor BBQ or graduation party. I love how comfortable and flowy the skirt is. I also really like the high waist band; it makes the outfit look a little more nicer. The color combination is very summery and honestly, I think the navy blue color from the shirt looks good with almost any other colors. It's almost a neutral color to me.

Today when we were taking these pictures, we had to do it super fast because there were huge thunderstorm cloud just coming up. Thunderstorms are probably one of the best things about summer! I love when the lightening fills the dark sky with light and falling asleep to a heavy rainfall is probably the most relaxing sounds ever. Dancing and running in the rain is always a great time. I know some people hate rainy days, but I honestly love them so much! I will be so sad when summer is over and there are no more rainstorms.
